April & May Shows & Two Spring Festivals in NoCal & Socal
Spring Gigs! Two Day Town Fest in Livermore & WoodFlock In Red Bluff Fest + SoCal & NoCal Gigs
Friends, festivarians, club-going get-away-ers, save the dates. Lots of nice gigs below, and two sweet Spring festivals are upon us. "Two Day Town" the local heavenly hang happens end of April on Lake Del Valle in Livermore, and "WoodFlock" up in Red Bluff is an intimate Memorial Day Weekend romp on the Sacramento River (put on by the one and only Trailer Park Troubadours' Antsy McClain - I got a new song he's gonna like, called "Aluminum Oasis", and I own a RARE guitar shaped like an Airstream that he himself inspired Epiphone to build. THAT is confluence, man). Cure your cabin fever with evening camp fires and sunlit laughs. See Complete festival descriptions at the bottom, after a "Spring At A Glance" list of NoCal and SoCal shows in SF, LA, Oakland, San Diego, Julian, Oakland, Colfax, Berkeley, Pasadena, Venice, Niles, Cambria, Boise, Livermore, and Red Bluff. Between dates, if anyone is inclined to host a house concert, or if you know a joint between towns I pass through, ping me! Predicting wonderful festival weather. But you can get muddy anyway, the Sacramento River and Del Valle Reservoir will oblige. ~ Michael

McNevin & McClelland play a set on Sat Night 4/29. Likely a few "Spokes" sitting in too. 20 miles from Niles, 1000-1500 folks camp, listen, play the stages, and the plentfiul evening camp fires. Lots of elbow room for camping, ample amenities, spacious as you want it to be. Fri through Sun pass runs $75, or do a day pass for $40. You can buy at the gate, or purchase in advance. 20 bands on the main stage, and quite a few side stage artists too. Runs smooth as silk, local musicians abound, a friendly low key place. Fri-Mon May 26-29 WoodFlock Music Festival In Red Bluff CA, on the Sacramento River. Memorial Day Weekend me and Pat McCellan will be "Towing" the Airscreamer Guitar, the upright bass, the Sears Silvertone, the trusty Alvarez acoustic up north to Red Bluff Recreation Area. The the one and only Antsy McClain and The Trailer Park Troubadours band run this family-friendly aluminum affair, they have the WHOLE park to themselves. Even your friendly dog is welcome to camp with us at this thing. A flock of about 300 "Flamingo-Heads" come from all parts to play tunes, camp, eat, make friends and share laughs. All inclusive, just bring a tent, or your canned ham trailer, or use the cabins (first come first serve), or go big with the numerous RV hookeups 100 yards away. Plenty of roofed lodging options five mins from festival site too, for the "Glampers". Kids under 12 are free with a paying adult. LOTS to do for the kids. Bring a pink flamingo lawn ornament if you got one, it's the rage. Another little factoid: Antsy actually called me out of the blue a few months back to join in the fun, not aware that I own a genuine Hard To Find special edition Epiphone/Gibson "Trailer Park Troubadours" Electric Guitar hanging on the Mudpuddle Shop wall (it's shaped like an Airstream, the hubcap is the volume knob, and his band name is on the headstock! Say what!? :-). WoodFlock festival web site: http://unhitched.com/woodflock-2017/ McNevin's Event Page, make a mini flamingo flock: https://www.facebook.com/events/242384456233106
