Hi Mudheads & Lovers of Free Stuff To Do This Weekend!
We have two amazing days coming to Niles, the town that time forgot. It is the long anticipated Niles Town Plaza Celebration, May 1st & 2nd, 2010!We are proud to be presenting 11 acts. From 10am-4pm on Saturday, and Noon-4pm on Sunday catch top notch solos, duos, and trios, including Grammy award winner Laurie Lewis with her duo partner Tom Rozum. Other musical acts include: Stevie Coyle, Calaveras, Bev Barnett & Greg Newlon, The T Sisters, Rachel Garlin, The Real Placebos, Kerbside, Lila Nelson, Steve Meckfessel, and yours truly, Michael McNevin.
It's our first real event in our brand new Niles centerpiece, first time using the new grass music amphitheater, first time showcasing our 1900 train station museum in the plaza as it opens for visits, and so much planned for families - Old fashioned 3-legged races, lively western gun fights staged between musical acts, wonderful outdoor model train layouts, Charlie Chaplin roaming around town. Did I mention the gigantic cake to feed hundreds?? Full Size Steam train photo ops will happen on Saturday, and our usual 7 mile Steam Train rides through the Niles Canyon on Sunday - courtesy of the Niles Canyon Railway! (www.ncry.org). Also catch a 4pm showing of the silent film "The General" starring Buster Keaton across the street at the historic Edison Theater (www.nilesfilmmuseum.org). And for all things Niles, visit www.niles.org for info on our town and events, including this one.
Hope you can make it out for a while, it's going to be nice weather -- and it's free!!
~ Michael
