This Sunday May 20th -- Niles Town Plaza Concert featuring four folk/americana acts from 11am-4pm. Music by Adler & Hearne (TX duo), Atkinson & Kincheloe & Beynon trio, Blah Blah Woof Woof, and McNevin & McClellan. This all takes place as part of the annual Niles Wild Flower, Art, Garden, & Quilt Show. Throughout Niles see handmade and historical quilts, garden and art displays, and you can hear the music all over town as well (the town acoustics from the amphitheater are gre...at!).

Rumor has it that the Mudpuddle Shop Show at 7pm after the daytime plaza concert, will be populated by a few extra of the aforementioned plaza musicians, with our featured artists being Adler & Hearne from TX. Did I mention that Lindy Hearne used to play with Roy Clark on Hee Haw? and that he actually played one of his own songs on that same show? He was also on Johnny Carson w/ Clark, and Al Green once recorded one of Lindy's songs. Who knew!! AND his music partner Lynn cowrote a Debbie Boon hit that won a grammy, and she also cowrote the theme song to PBS's "Wishbone" show. WHO KNEW!!?? If that isn't enough, Lindy was good freinds with "Goober" from the Andy Griffith show. I learned this all over dinner with them the other night, none of this is in their bios. Just goes to show ya, never judge songwriters by their lead sheets my friends.

More About The Music: "Blah Blah Woof Woof": The San Jose Mercury & News has called them a "Folk Supergroup". This band built of award winning songwriters who can do it as well together as they can alone, and have been offering up live independent acoustic music for a fraction of two millennia. "Atkinson, Kincheloe & Beynon": Through their combined talents, and a brotherhood of a lifetime of performing, singer/songwriters Marty Atkinson, George Kincheloe, and Scott Beynon create a genre of music where Folk turns to Rock, then becomes Country, with a little bit of Celtic influence, ultimately delivering true Americana. "Adler & Hearne": Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne are a traveling duo from Texas, and this is their second trip to the Niles area. With a new CD in tow - "Live at Eddie's Attic", (recorded in Decatur, GA) they deliver beautiful vocals and guitar in country-folk songs that are sentimental, timely, and humorous. "McNevin & McClellan" : Raised in Niles, Michael McNevin has logged 20 years of concerts and music festivals across the U.S. He's been billed with the likes of Johnny Cash, Shawn Colvin, Utah Phillips, Donovan, and 100s of others. With a seasoned voice, accomplished guitar work, and a vivid brand of storytelling, he is a winner of the Kerrville New-folk award in Texas, and a 6-time winner of the West Coast Songwriters Association "Song Of The Year".

The Town & The Plaza: The beautiful Niles Town Plaza sits in the center of the old train town of Niles, against the hills of Fremont. The lawn amphitheater is in front of the restored 1900's train station, with a nice view of the musicians, hills, and the old steam trains that come and go through the Niles Canyon every other Sat and Sun. The five block downtown is Mayberry with a twist - artisan shops, antique stores, great little restaurants & pubs, a silent film theater, lakes and hills, and authentic antique steam trains that run through Niles Canyon. Niles has something for everyone. Bring low lawn chairs and blankets to the plaza concert lawn, enjoy the sunshine, spend some time in the old silent film mecca where Charlie Chaplin and Broncho Billy made films 100 years ago. For those who show up without a plan, not a problem - large shade canopies are provided by the Niles Main Street Association, with plenty of park benches and a long semi-circle bench facing the concert stage. There are also several restaurants adjacent to the plaza who have 'to go' lunches for your impromptu picnic. Please no alcohol, and please keep the plaza clean. This is a family friendly event!
