About The Venue:
Viracocha is a very hip Antique Store in the Mission District of SF, with an underground art space underneath it. Great sound system and vibe for acoustic level stuff, seats 50-70 comfortably, intimate. Most recently they hosted The California Honeydrops (Niles Plaza Concert Alumni!), so it's a nice scene for bands too. The bus will drop us right there at the door, and pick us up after the concert.
About The Artists:
Stiles - JL Stiles has shared bills with blues greats and Americana legends BB King, Etta James, JJ Cale, Leon Russell, John Hammond, Jimmie Vaughan, Keb' Mo', Corey Harris, Tommy Castro, Taj Mahal, Leon Redbone, Joe Louis Walker, Tower of Power, Dan Hicks, & Suzy Bogguss. Blind Blake and the rest of his honored forebearers haunt everything he does, including his upcoming song-of-the-ages album on which producer Etienne de Rocher (Sean Hayes) plied his remarkable talents. It's a bit confounding to box a one-off like JL. He's a songwriter, where harmonica and a kickass 12 string figure into the mix. With so much varied blues and 20's/30's style in his system, he also plies ragtime and blues guitar gems into his other band, "Hobo Paradise", which recently tore the house down at the legendary jazz club Yoshi's in San Francisco. McNevin - A San Francisco Bay Area native, Michael McNevin started his career with a six-month stint in New York City, cutting his troubadour teeth in the subways and streets of Greenwich Village. Now a veteran of the folk scene, Michael has logged 15 years of concerts across the U.S., and he's been a main stager at some of the bigger music festivals around, including the Strawberry, Kerrville, and Philadelphia folk festivals. He's been billed in clubs and halls with the likes of Johnny Cash, Shawn Colvin, Donovan, and 100s of others on the songwriter circuit. He has a seasoned voice, accomplished steel string guitar work, and a distinct and vivid brand of storytelling. He is a past winner of the Kerrville New-folk award in Texas, a 6-time winner of the West Coast Songwriters Association "Song Of The Year" ('91, '92, '97, '98, '05, '09), and was chosen by Performing Songwriter Magazine as a Top 12 “DIY Artist Of The Year". He also owns and operates the Mudpuddle Shop, in downtown Niles, CA - a place for jams, concerts, art, and steam train activities on most Sundays of the year.
