McNevin Gigs the rest of Spring 2019

I've got a kind of sideways palm tree selfie picture, taken in Maui a few years ago, in Sara and Andy Ridinger's front yard. I remember when they planted the tree, which was way more years than a few ago...  now it's a very tall nod to the show in Carpinteria at Palm Loft Gallery this Sunday night. Not sure how Arturo got the picture to use it for the gig cover photo, but it works. Did you know that the Niles CA Nursery, was the largest tree nursery west of the Mississippi at one time? Niles nursery propagated palm trees all over the state, we are THE REASON southern CA is covered with palm trees. Niles even provided the trees to the Pan American World's Fair in SF in 1918. It also let people see Redwoods for the first time. People back east didn't believe they were real, that the pictures were fake.

Keep reading below for a buncha Spring gigs around the state of CA, then it's off to Texas in June. Not a lot of palm trees there. Great festival in Kerrville though.

Some of the CA gig cobillers include: Late For The Train, Dolly and Laura Ramirez, Arturo Tello, Antsy McClain & The Trailerpark Troubadours, Sandi & The Rockerfellers, Emily Lois, Patrick McClellan, Rachel Garlin, Sourdough Slim, The Gin Blossoms, Brad Colerick, Tisa Adamson, JJ Schoch, and others. Starts this Sat and Sun with Van Nuys, South Pasadena, and Carpinteria, then Soquel/Santa Cruz, Fremont, and Woodflock. Got a new rough CD in tow, burned on the old Mac, casually calling it "The White Albume". Written on with a sharpie, and misspelled so as not to be confused with The Beatles. Get Muddy.
Happy Spring ~ Michael.

Campers, RVers, flamingo heads. Memorial Day Weekend outside of Chico, at the edge of Lassen National Park, is a thing called "WoodFlock". It's an "Aluminum Oasis", as it were.
Full of fans and "Flamingoheads" of the famous and friendly Trailer Park Troubadours Band. Antsy McClain and band headline, with a cool smattering of songwriters adding to the evening shows and workshops. This is McNevin & McCellan's 3rd year playing it. The one and only Sourdough Slim is also on the roster this year, a CLASSIC yodeling cowboy savant. New guests for the line up include Rachel Garlin and "Late For The Train" (Laura Benson and Dave Pascoe). Pickers and listeners populate the campground for music making, workshopping a bit, writing a bit, jamming, swapping, and cribbage matches of course. Includes a chili cook-off Sat night, crafts, and a campsite decorating contest, BYO Pink Flamingos. A nice mix of mischief, lazy afternoons, folk and friendship under the trees with about 150-200 folks. Intimate, affordable, great group breakfast and dinners included. Easy to get in and set up with cars, tents, trailers and RVs, and cabins to grab too (no extra charge, first come first serve). Family friendly. No pets.

NOTE: Cabins available at no extra $ - First come first serve, might wanna message Antsy to grab one if it's imperative. Good community meals included.

NOTE: We can now arrive early on Thursday if we wanna, it's all good, so make a 4-day weekend out of it and avoid some of that getaway Friday traffic!
