More about Wine & Song and the cobillers.

The Wednesday after Xmas McNevin visits the Wine & Song Songwriter series in South Pasadena, with feature acts Michael McNevin and Ted Russell Camp, plus other special guests. This is McNevin's 4th annual midweek holiday huff down to this sweet SoCal W&S series. Didn't plan it that way, it just keeps happening. The "Blue Guitar" room is inside the Arroyo Seco Golf Course, great music songwriter scene every Wednesday, Jazz every Thursday. (NOTE: listeners and musicians can bring a wedge and a putter for optional 5pm whack and walk on 9 holes of the 3-par course! Also... We *might* song swap camp out in the golf course lot after the show, if enough people want to RV/Tent/CarCamp - last time we only got two friendly visits from the police, they were very cool...)

More about the artists:

Michael McNevin
www.michaelmcnevin.com
Songwriter Michael McNevin grew up in the train town of Niles, CA, in the hills of Fremont in the SF Bay Area. His songs read like short stories, full of heart, humor, and a keen eye for detail. Accomplished guitar work and seasoned vocals underscore the characters and places he comes across in his travels. He started his career in the the bars of the SF East Bay, mixing in a six-month stint in New York City, cutting his troubadour teeth in the subways and streets of Greenwich Village. Michael has since logged 25 years on the U.S. songwriter circuit. His vivid brand of storytelling won the Kerrville New-Folk award in Texas, “DYI Artist Of The Year” nods from Performing Songwriter Magazine, and 7-time top honors for the West Coast Songwriters grand finals “Song Of The Year” award. He tours as a solo act, and occasionally gets a band together as McNevin & The Spokes. He's shared hall stages with Johnny Cash & The Carter Family, Donovan, Shawn Colvin, Utah Phillips, Christine Lavin, Richie Havens, Iris Dement, Greg Brown, The California Honeydrops, Ron Thompson, The T Sisters, Ramblin Jack Elliott, Rosanne Cash, Tim Flannery & The Lunatic Fringe, and many of others on the US songwriter circuit. He’s been a main-stager at Strawberry, High Sierra, Kerrville, Redwood Ramble, American River, and Philly Folk Festivals.

“I don’t know what’s best about ‘Sketch’ - Michael McNevin’s music or his Etch-A-Sketch drawings that accompany each song. McNevin is a singer songwriter of the highest order...”

Ted Russell Kamp
http://tedrussellkamp.com
Ted Russell Kamp is an LA-based bass player, singer/songwriter and producer.
Ted writes, records and travels the world performing his own country / roots / Americana music from his ten critically-acclaimed albums. Ted also plays live, records sessions, and collaborates on songs with A-list songwriters and musicians in L.A., Nashville, Austin and around the world. Ted often works out of his home studio — The Den — and has produced several well-received albums for fellow artists there. Ted has also had the honor of being a friend, collaborator and member of Shooter Jennings’ band for most of the last 15 years.
Ted is well known for his ability to step into bands and rock all genres of music — the decades he spent holding down the bottom end for bands as diverse as Shooter, Jessi Colter, Whitey Morgan, Wilson Phillips and others have made sure Ted had the chops for anything from major festivals to David Letterman appearances.
The last few years have found Kamp focusing on his own career as well as touring and recording with Shooter. He tours continuously in the US and Europe, and has releasing his solo albums to critical acclaim. His records have debuted at #1 on the Euroamericana Chart and made the US Americana Chart’s Top 100 Records of the Year. The Big Takeover wrote, “Kamp simply knocks one ball after another out of the park…Saturated in talent and sincerity … good music done right.”
NO DEPRESSION
“… Terrific. Ted is a start on the rise … in the tradition of Guy Clark … An impressive record. …”
ALAN CACKETT, MAVERICK MAGAZINE (UK)
“… A talented singer-songwriter … with probing stories of real life, fueled by emotion, his poetic explanations are truly profound and deeply personal. His voice gets inside your bones … like John Prine with more air and less dirt … a riveting tour-de-force of an album….”
